Due to the increasing popularity of Instagram's Reels, CreatorIQ has been evaluating our support for Reels within the platform. As usage has continued to grow, we have been working with our data partners to provide improved coverage.
Instagram Reels are now brought in automatically to campaigns that are posted in a story or in-feed within the last 12 posts, removing the need to manually add all Reels to Campaigns via URL.
Important Reels Requirements
The following are characteristics of Instagram Reel collection that are important to note:
-
All account types are supported, regardless of authentication
The creator's Instagram account type and authentication status will not impact if we are able to collect Reels (Business/Creator and Personal accounts are all supported), but age-restricted accounts (as well as individual age-restricted reels) will not be collected.
-
The Reel must be posted in-feed or in a story
The Reel must be posted to the creator's feed or story. At this time, we do not support capturing the content if it's only posted in their Reels tab. If a creator's Reel is not posted in-feed, you can manually add it to your campaign.
-
The Reel must be in the last 12 creator posts
When capturing Reels for the first time on a campaign, the Reel must be posted within the 12 most recent overall posts in the creator's feed for it to be collected. Going forward, all Reels that are posted will be collected, as long as they match the campaign criteria. Likes and comments metrics will only update for the Reels that are in the last 12 in-feed posts.
-
The Reel will be categorized as a video
Due to limitations within the Facebook API, we are unable to identify Reels as a separate content type, therefore it will be collected as a standard Instagram video post within your campaign. You can distinguish Reels from videos by categorizing the post type manually, which you can learn how to do HERE.
Reels will NOT be collected if they are age-restricted content!
Additionally, if you want to require your creators to create Reels as a post type, follow the steps below:
