Social Media Value (SMV) reflects the costs of achieving the same dollar results – for the given metrics – by using paid media ads.
We compare the cost values of obtaining key metrics through ad buying (e.g. Likes, Comments, Video Views, and Clicks) to the cost of paying a creator to reach their own audience/social media following.
New 2022 SMV update!
For any newly created environments made on or after November 9, 2022, the SMVs above will be automatically set as the default. No changes will be made to environments that were created before this date. However, the defaulted values can be updated by your team's admin.
For any Campaigns that have ended on or after this date, the data will not change. Active Campaigns' data, on the other hand, will change accordingly.
Note: Campaign SMVs can always be adjusted. Navigate to How-To: Update Social Media Values and Multipliers in Campaigns for more info!
Methodology
Since Facebook Ads is a mature, highly penetrated market, CreatorIQ used Facebook Ads Manager as a proxy for your creator's targeted audience. This data was collected across: Instagram, Instagram Stories, and Facebook to optimize four main KPIs – Clicks, Impressions, Video Views, and Engagements.
TikTok data might look different because we use different ad-buying platforms, including TikTok's ads tool. Facebook, in particular, has the most granularity on Interests. Therefore, we use Facebook due to the larger penetration of user bases across almost all countries – especially for older users.
Note: While Facebook's usage isn't high, the platform provides a snapshot of who those people are. In turn, operating more like a consumer research tool because Facebook has the closest accurate data than any other methods in the market at this time.
